Barlov after the historic Success: I couldn’t even dream of this

Paralympian from Bosnia and Herzegovina Ismail Barlov told BHRT that he could not have dreamed of this success.

He won the silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke category at the Paralympic Games in Paris.

“I am really satisfied with my result, I could not even dream of this and I can certainly say that my dream has come true,” Barlov said after the performance.

He especially emphasized the support that came to him from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Yes, it meant a lot to me and she was very supportive and I thank them very much for supporting me. Thank you to everyone who followed me and supported me, thank you.”

His coach, Amel Kapo, also said that he did not believe in the medal, although a friend had already stressed to him that it would certainly be in Paris.

“What I often like to say is, be careful what you dream, maybe it will come true. Maybe two years ago at the Winter Paralympic Games, our friend Mirsad Muftić believed in us and said that one of the Ismails would win the first Olympic or Paralympic individual medal sport and that in Paris. I honestly didn’t believe in it at the time, now I can freely say that I thank him for believing in us that our dream practically came true.”

Kapo told BHRT that they are happy that they made the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina happy.

“I am very glad that we managed to make our entire nation happy, for the reason that, first of all, this is a sport for people with disabilities and people with disabilities are indeed an important member of our society, here we have shown, proved for the umpteenth time that this only if if they are given an equal opportunity, they will perform miracles, and Ismail performed a great miracle.”
