Baščaršija Square depo.baThe reconstruction of the Baščaršija Square, the biggest investment project of the Municipality of Stari Grad in this year, is in final stage. Setting of stone plates i.e. the tiling of the square is nearing completion, which was preceeded by the repair and change of entire underground infrastructure (water network, sewerage network, gas and electricity installations, BH Telecom installations).

“What remained to be done is tiling of only some 40 square meters of the total square surface, precisely the section along the Mula Mustafe Bašeskije street,” said Mirsad Hodžić from the company Coning Ltd. Sarajevo, the supervisor of the works.

According to Hodžić, the stairs around Sebilj will be removed and replaced with new ones, made in a workshop, a public clock will be placed in the upper part of the square on Wednesday, the existing spotlights will be replaced, and stone benches placed in the upper part of the square.

The official opening of the Baščaršija Square is scheduled on Thursday, December 24, and it will be attended by the delegations of the City of Bursa and the Municipality of Osmangazi from the Republic of Turkey, that co-financed the works.

The reconstruction of the Baščaršija Square started on September 2 this year, and the works worth 1.2 million BAM were financed, in equal proportions, by the Osmangazi Municipality and Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality. The project implementer is TIKA, and the contractor is the company Neimari Ltd. Sarajevo.
