Baščaršija Turns Tomorrow into an Atelier for 26 Artists from 9 Countries

Bascarsija_squareThe central part of the Old town and Baščaršija in Sarajevo will  become tomorrow an open atelier for 26 artists from 9 countries to paint the “Austro-Hungarian period of Sarajevo” from October 7th to October 14th within the second International artist colony organized by the gallery Preporod.

The author of this project, painter and manager of the gallery Preporod, Mirsada Baljić said that the artists will all paint in their own way the “Austro-Hungarian period of the town on Miljacka” and added:

“The purpose of this event is for it to become traditional in Sarajevo so that it can connect various artists coming from various parts of the world. The works painted during the colony will certainly enrich the fundus of the Bosnian cultural community “Preporod” and its gallery.”

The honourary participants of the colony are Affan Ramić and Jusuf Nikšić.

The participants from B&H are: Dževdet Nikočeić, Ćazim Hadžimejlić, Edin Numankadić, Mensura Jahić, Merima Ivković, Mustafa Skopljak, Hamzalija Muhić, Ira Skopljak, Amra Kozić, Mersiha Merdžanović, Suvada Šaćiragić, Avdo Žiga, Damir Avdić and Mirsada Baljić.

From Turkey Orhan Cebrailoglu, Ziyad Sultanov i Teymur Agalioglu, from Hungary Zalan Kertan, from Finland Amir Khatib, from Macedonia Nevzat Kica Bejtuli, from Kosovo Ethem Baymak, from Germany Gabriele Schaffartzik, from Sweden Ali Najar, from Great Britain Gwen Jones.

The paintings will be exhibited in the Gazi Husrev Bey’s hanikah from October 14th.
