The exhibition “Waste is Taste”, that opened on Thursday late night in the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo, attracted a great number of visitors who wanted to see garments made of recycled material.
Started in 2012, “Waste is Taste” exhibition presents the concept of making a fashionable and wearable clothes, mainly dresses, from the things people usually call “garbage”. This concept of creation is little known to the local public, not only in BiH – but also in the region.
At the opening ceremony, some hundred people had the opportunity to see the dresses, jewelry and to speak with the designers. In the meantime, organizers gave awards to three artists who made the most beautiful dresses, first place to Maja Modrijan from Slovenia, second place to Laila Music and third place to Adna Brkic and Nedzmina Comor, all from BiH.
“I am glad that there was a great number of people at the Historical Museum visiting this exhibition. This year, we had the opportunity to see jewelry from recycled material as well,” Jasminka Hadzimehmedovic, Executive Director of the Kultart Association said at the opening ceremony.
