The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke in Vilnius with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrid Šimonytė as part of his official visit to that country.
During the conversation, Bećirović said that his visits to Finland, Sweden and Lithuania were not a result of coincidence, but a strategic commitment to firmly connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with NATO and EU members.
In this context, he recalled that his first foreign policy visits were precisely to the headquarters of NATO and the EU in Brussels.
Also, Bećirović emphasized that all the officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina should in the future intensify their foreign policy activity in the member states of NATO and the EU and thus additionally point out the importance of the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the conversation, the interlocutors expressed their commitment to strengthening friendly cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Lithuania. Bećirović expressed his gratitude for Lithuania’s continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the processes of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He pointed out that the key strategic goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina are full membership in the EU and NATO.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė said that Lithuania is still firmly committed to providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Among other things, she emphasized Lithuania’s readiness to use its experience and available capacities to help Bosnia and Herzegovina in realizing its foreign policy goals.
Bećirović said that, among other things, membership in the EU and NATO would provide an additional incentive for attracting direct foreign investments and creating new jobs. Joining NATO is a common interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO.
He pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina strives to further strengthen economic cooperation with Lithuania and that it is necessary to speed up the dynamics for signing agreements in various areas, especially agreements that would raise the level of economic cooperation.
Bećirović also proposed to the Prime Minister of Lithuania to speed up the process of concluding several important agreements, including economic cooperation, Bećirović’s Cabinet announced.
