On Monday, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, attended the central ceremony marking the Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the “Adil Bešić” barracks in Bihać.
Bećirović spoke at the central ceremony marking the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the 19th anniversary of the 2nd Infantry-Ranger Regiment of the Armed Forces of BiH and, among other things, said that “we remember with the greatest pride the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and we preserve the tradition of the freedom army of the RBiH, which defended the multi-ethnic, democratic and indivisible state of Bosnia and Herzegovina of equal citizens and nations”.
“The army of RBiH is most deserving of the fact that the results of the legal and internationally recognized referendum for an independent, sovereign and indivisible Bosnia and Herzegovina were defended. As the chairman of the BiH Presidency, I express my deep gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, war disabled soldiers, to the families of martyrs and fallen fighters, golden lilies and all fighters for their selfless contribution to the defense and construction of our state of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Bećirović, according to the AA.
He also expressed his gratitude to the members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina
“Today, the Armed Forces of BiH are the only legal military force in our country. They are, among other things, in charge and ready to provide military defense to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as assistance to civil authorities and the population throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Given that we often hear irresponsible statements of individuals who threaten our homeland, I especially want to emphasize the fundamental goal of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is to ensure the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and international subjectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Bećirović.
He added that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina represent the guarantor of security for every human being.
“They are a legal armed force that is always ready to, together with hundreds of thousands of patriots in the country and abroad, defend our homeland,” emphasized the Chairman of the BiH Presidency.
He repeated that the state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina have clearly defined strategic goals – full membership in NATO and the European Union.
“I thank NATO and our allies for their help and support in strengthening the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the entire security and defense system. Seven days ago in Brussels, in the capacity of Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I spoke with the Secretary General of NATO. The fact is encouraging that NATO headquarters expressed its readiness to help Bosnia and Herzegovina on its accelerated path to Euro-Atlantic and European integration. In Brussels, I clearly indicated that full membership in NATO is the best guarantee of security for all people is the best possible legacy that we can leave to our children and future generations. We are always vigilant and aware that we must fight for Bosnia and Herzegovina through the institutions of the state. We will never give in to our state institutions ties with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. We will strengthen the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and we will continue the European and Euro-Atlantic path,” said Bećirović.
