“With our joint engagement, we have returned the Tuzla International Airport to the map of international air connections,” said the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Transport of the Tuzla Canton Denis Bećirović, after the contract was signed thanks to the months-long work of the responsible cantonal ministry, as well as the engagement of the management of the airport and the Government of the Tuzla Canton with the Greek airline Lumiwings.

In this way, from December 18, Tuzla will be connected with Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany and for the first time with Turkey.

“By signing the contract, we have taken an important step towards strengthening the connection between the Tuzla Canton and BiH with key destinations, which further has a positive impact on tourism, trade and the economic development of the entire region,” said Minister Bećirović on that occasion.

The Government of Tuzla Canton has set aside an amount of two and a half million BAM as key support for this important project.

“The Tuzla International Airport and its further development are a strategic element and project of the Ministry and the Government of the Tuzla Canton, and an indispensable segment of all strategic documents and development plans of the Canton, and we dedicated ourselves to it as such,” says Bećirović.

The management of Lumiwings optimistically predicts a positive response from passengers to the newly established flights. They are particularly convinced that these flights will stimulate the renewed interest of the diaspora, which will significantly contribute to the final success of this project.

They are aware that diaspora engagement plays a key role in the sustainability and prosperity of air routes, and are committed to creating an attractive and competitive offer that will attract a wide range of passengers.

“The Ministry and the management of Tuzla Airport will continue to create an encouraging environment for the expansion of air routes, including new attractive and interesting destinations, both in Europe and around the world ,” Minister Bećirović concluded.
