Becirovic: What Workers in BiH need Today is not Nostalgia for past Times

Today, on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day Denis Bećirović, member of the BiH Presidency, congratulated all workers on May 1, stressing that this holiday is an opportunity to express hope in working together to overcome economic difficulties and challenges, and to be more determined moving forward towards a better life and progress of our country.

“Celebrating International Workers’ Day is an opportunity to jointly point out the importance of the role of workers and their struggle throughout history, but also the fact that despite the rights that were introduced long ago, there are still a large number of those who cannot exercise their right to work or, on the other hand, cannot provide a dignified life to his family. That is why this holiday reminds us of the importance of the synergy of all actors in our society in order to ensure a safer future for all our fellow citizens, especially young people,” Becirovic stated.

What workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina need today, Bećirović adds, is not nostalgia for past times.

“We should not repeat the mistake of our predecessors who believed they had the final answers to all social issues. New times always demand new answers. Workers need awareness raising about their rights and ways to fight for their rights. Finally, to employed workers, retired workers and housewives (unpaid workers in the family), I congratulate May 1 – International Workers’ Day! – stated Bećirović in the congratulatory message.
