Behmen: City of Sarajevo has finished important projects

Mayor of Sarajevo Alija Behmen is satisfied that despite the economic crisis and lower budget, Sarajevo managed to finish significant projects and activities, as well as to promote new ones.

According to Behmen, among the most significant projects in 2012 was the creation of new concept design of cable railways Trebević, which will be built by Italian ”Studio Corone” by 2014.

Behmen said that in the October of this year, third phase of the rehabilitation of National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NUBBIH) has been finished and the fourth phase started, and in 2014 the rehabilitation of NUBBIH will be finished and the opened with the concert of The Vienna Philharmonic.

In the New Year’s meeting with journalists, Behmen talked about many other important projects in Sarajevo, such as the joint hosting of winter festival for young 2017 which will be organised by Sarajevo and East Sarajevo which is the hallmark of cooperation of two cities.

In 2012, many projects in fields of economy, social politics, culture, education have been finished.

Behmen said: ” This year was very significant for Sarajevo, because we had three anniversaries, 550 years since the founding of Sarajevo, 67 years since the fall of fascism and 20 years since the siege of Sarajevo started. In commemoration of 11 541 citizens of Sarajevo, of which 1 600 were children, a manifestation ”Sarajevo Red line” was organised.”
