Nermin Stitkovac klix.baAt the recently-held athletics meeting on Sokolac, Nermin Stitkovac managed to break the BH record in discus throw.

Stitkovac broke the 25-year-old state record of 60.54 meters for a little less than two meters. The international athletics meeting on Sokolac was held on August 8th, where Stitkovac achieved the result of 62.58 meters – setting a new record for competitors under 18 years of age.

Little more than two weeks later, at the athletics championship of the Republic of Srpska, Stitkovac confirmed the old and set a new record of 62.86 meters.

The coach Vlatka Malec has been supporting this promising BH athlete since 2013 when he was only 13 years old and, as she claims, by next year he had already thrown the discus to the distance of 23 meters.

“The following year, he achieved the distance of almost 40 meters, and then he started training during winter as well. Regarding competitions, he was the first in discus throw with the result of 53.22 meters and third in shot put with 13.77 meters at the Turkish Festival of Youth of Europe. After that, he became the state champion for his generation with achieved 54 meters, and then he took the fifth place in the U18 category on the Balkans, which is excellent considering that he competed with participants who were two years older than him”, Malec explained.

Malec says that Stitkovac is up for more training, and in 2016 he will perform among young juniors where he is expected to meet the norm for the European Championships.

“He is transitioning to the discus weighing 1.5 kg, the norm is set on about 55 meters, and he already has 47, which means he can progress “, Malec said.

Nermin is solely supported by his parents and good people who recognize his quality and the hope he gives to the BH sports.
