BH Citizens among the most numerous “Foreigners” in the EU

Citizens of BiH, Albania and Serbia are among the most numerous foreigners in the EU, according to the latest survey conducted by Eurostat.

BiH is among the largest foreign communities, and our country occupied the 7th place in the EU with almost one million residents (956,000) back in 2011.

The community of Albania has 903,000 residents, while 429,000 citizens of EU were born in Serbia.

According to the available data, the number of people from BiH who are living abroad amounts to almost two million, which is more than half of the total population of this country.

Citizens of BiH usually migrate to Germany, and then Austria, Croatia and Serbia.

With around 200,000 citizens of BiH, Germany is the country with the largest number of immigrants from BiH in the entire Europe.

According to the latest population census in Austria in 2014, the number of people from BiH in that country amounted to 155,050, or 1.9 % of the total population of Austria.

When it comes to the Scandinavian countries, Sweden has the largest number of citizens of BiH, while there is approximately around 150,000 people in the United States, with the highest concentration in St. Louise.
