“The Republic of Korea and B&H are very far from each other and do not have embassies in our capitals, so some obstacle exist when it comes to deepening of the relationship and communication between these two countries, however bilateral relations have developed and progressed,” said the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to B&H based in Zagreb, Hyung-won Suh.
He recalled that the Republic of Korea and B&H established diplomatic relations back in December 1995, and he emphasized that relations were very friendly and warmhearted over the past 20 years.
He believes that there is great potential for development of bilateral relations in the future.
He mentioned that right after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1995, when the war in B&H ended, the Government of the Republic of Korea helped to B&H in reconstruction.
“After that, when GDP of B&H increased, our financial assistance was reduced to several projects that include the modernization of the hospital in Banja Luka, and the opening of a Center for youth and the purchase of computer equipment in Canton 10,” said Hyung-won Suh.
He emphasized that it is needed to work on improving trade relations and investments more now, and that a large number of tourists from the Republic of Korea visited the countries in the region this year, and that is one of the reasons for developing of trade relations and increasing investments from the Republic of Korea.
