The 16th Balkan Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors and U21 was held last weekend in Dubrovnik, and the Sarajevo Karate Club “Champion” has 11 representatives. As much as five of them won medals, the club stated.
Anes Čongo defended the title of the Balkan Champion in the category of up to 84 kilograms for the third consecutive time, defeating representatives of Kosovo, Croatia and Serbia on his way to the finals. With this result, he concluded another exceptionally successful year in his career.
Marija Marjanović won the silver medal. She performed in the category of juniors up to 59 kilograms. Marija is the current vice-champion of B&H, and after a very complex injury she had a successful comeback to the competition and it is believed that she will make B&H proud in the future as well.
Bronze medals were won by Ćemo Merisa in the category of over 59 kilograms, Ena Gljiva in the category U21 over 68 kilograms, and Delić Mevlida in the category U21 up to 50 kilograms.
Namely, the karate national team of B&H managed to win 6 gold, 5 silver and 20 bronze medals and to take high fourth place in the competition of 11 countries and 684 contestants.
