B&H has responded positively to the call of the UN emergency call to send peacekeeping forces to South Sudan, in order to protect civilians from violence.
‘’The B&H Ministry of Security offered 28 more police officers from all B&H police agencies, which have already undergone the necessary training and after voluntarily applying are ready to join the mission’’, announced the Ministry.
The UN Security Council recently requested an increase in the number of peacekeepers after the deterioration of the security situation in South Sudan.
There are currently 35 police officers as part of the police contingent in South Sudan, and 6 more will join on Saturday.
With the 28 police officers, B&H will have its largest police mission in peace operations.
In this way, B&H shows its readiness to meet its international obligations and help vulnerable residents of South Sudan.
