The Association of Cheese Producers of B&H, with the support of USAID/Sida FARMA Project presented a part of its offers to its members at the first ‘Balkan Cheese Festival’, which was held last weekend in Belgrade.
There was a huge interest in B&H cheeses. All the cheese from B&H at the festival were sold before the end of the second day of the festival, and a large number of business contacts with distributors and representatives of Belgrade restaurants were made.
The idea of this festival was to present to the wider public traditional cheeses native to B&H. Several culinary workshops were held during the festival. Among the 30 producers of cheese from the region with selected cheeses, five were from B&H. The Director of the Association for Professional Sommeliers of Serbia Dejan Živkoski gave excellent ratings for B&H cheeses, and as a great connoisseur of the wine scene in B&H, gave recommendations to combine B&H cheeses with Serbian wines.
Omer Mrakić, President of the Association of Cheese Producers B&H, said that ‘’One of the goals of the Association at this festival was to promote B&H cheeses in Serbia, in order to facilitate exports. The reaction to the quality of our cheeses were excellent and we hope that some of the contacts we made here with distributors will have good results’’.
