Despite the financial debts, BHRT will still be allowed to broadcast the European Championship in football, stated the European Broadcasting Union yesterday (EBU).
Director General of the EBU Ingrid Deltenre said that, after talking to the officials of the BHRT, it was decided to give permission to the national television of BiH to broadcast matches of the European Championship in football.
“Situation in BiH is still critical, but we hope that after talking to the state authorities the BHRT will reach an agreement on the way of repaying debts and find a sustainable mode of financing so that the citizens of BiH could enjoy sports events during the summer,” the EBU stated.
Answer from the EBU arrived in the last moment, because BHRT owes six million francs to the EBU. BHRT forwarded a request to EBU, asking for permission to broadcast the EURO 2016 with the payment of ten percent of the debt.
Thus, BHRT will certainly broadcast the program until the end of the European Championship on July 10, and EBU hopes that state authorities will come up with the best system for sustainable financing until then.
