Biden: “America has no Place for this kind of Violence“

Following the armed attack on presidential candidate Donald Trump, US President Joe Biden expressed his concern about the “sick” assassination attempt in a statement and said he was “grateful” to hear that Donald Trump was safe.

“I was informed about the shooting at the Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania. I am grateful to hear that he is safe and well,” he said, reports the BBC.

“I pray for him and his family and for all those who were at the meeting, while we wait for further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There is no place in America for this kind of violence. We must unite as one nation to condemn him. It’s sick, it’s sick,” said Biden.

Vice President Kamala Harris also released a statement saying she was “relieved” Trump was not seriously injured.

“We pray for him, his family and all those who were injured and affected by this senseless shooting,” she stated.

The White House said Biden spoke to his Republican presidential rival by phone after he was released from the hospital, while Biden’s campaign managers said they were pulling television ads as soon as possible after Trump’s assassination.
