Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković participated in the commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, which was held next to Sebilj in Saint Louis.
Minister Konaković pointed out that every memory and every commemoration of July 11, in any part of the world, is painful and sad, but very important.
He emphasized that teaching our generations, especially the young, what really happened on July 11, 1995, is our moral, human, civilizational obligation, especially today when the evil forces that promote lies and fight for lies, trying to stop the truths from 1995, are still alive. about the adjudicated genocide in Srebrenica but, as he said, also all other unadjudicated genocides in our country.
He added that it was therefore very important to adopt the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly, with the great support of our friends. He assessed as shocking the great resistance and the dirty campaign of the authorities in Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, and with the support of Russia and China, who did everything to prevent the truth about Srebrenica from coming to light in that important institution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
Konaković emphasized that the most important part of that resolution is the civilizational obligation of all countries of the free world to include facts and information in educational programs that tell who and how brutally killed more than 8,000 men and thousands and tens of thousands of civilians throughout our country.
He expressed his gratitude to the Bosnian community in St. Louis for preserving and nurturing ties with the homeland and educating young generations.
American congresswoman and co-chair of the BiH Caucus in Congress, Cori Bush, also addressed the gathering in Saint Louis. On that occasion, she emphasized that she is proud and honored to attend the commemoration of the anniversary of the crime, which happened 29 years ago.
“We remember the 8372 boys and men killed and thousands of women raped and displaced during the genocide in Srebrenica. We must honor them, them and their families. We must stand against genocide and ethnic cleansing and hatred in the world. We must fight against the denial of genocide and the glorification of criminals anywhere in the world,” Congresswoman Bush pointed out.
She added that even today there are forces that try to deny and minimize what happened in Srebrenica. She said that war and suffering must never be forgotten.
The president of the Association of Survivors of the Srebrenica Genocide, Mirsad Salihović, and imam Selvir Mujanović also spoke at the meeting. The performance was performed by BH Loyals, while the ilahi dedicated to Srebrenica was performed by Jusmir Handžić, the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
