BiH acquired more than 18.000 European Standards

drvna11Bosnia and Herzegovina has acquired more than 85 percent of European standards as BAS standards so far, which is between 18.000 and 19.00 standards, and they are constantly changing; said the Assistant Director for Evaluation of Compliance in the Institute for Standardization in BiH Goran Tešanović.

At the marking of the World Standards Day in the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, Tešanović said that standards are an indispensable tool in the field of evaluation of compliance when the systems and products are certifier or during the certification of bodies for evaluation of staff, inspection bodies and the like.

Tešanović emphasized that the Institute has acquired all standards and they are available to businessmen and legislators in BiH, i.e. all those who are interested in introducing standards. He added that wood industry, electrical industry and one part of food industry are very well coordinated with standards.

According to Tešanović, certain problems exist in implementation of standards from the aspect of harmonization of legislature and placement of BiH products on the EU market, primarily because BiH does not have enough certification bodies.

“Institute for Standardization provides full support for the economy of BiH which can join the work of certain bodies of the Institute and thus monitor the work and development of standards both in BiH and the world,” Tešanović said.

President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH Bruno Bojić said that the Chamber and the Institute have been working for years on informing the businessmen about standards of EU that they need in their further work, as well as on informing the legislative authority about what has to be done in order to place products from BiH to the market of EU and the rest of the world.
