The goals of the “EU for the Fight against Cybercrime” project, financed by the European Union with one million euros, were presented in Sarajevo today, the Ministry of Security of BiH stated.

Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to strengthen the capacity of security agencies in the fight against cybercrime, and to improve legislation in this area in line with European Union standards. These are also the goals of the “EU for the Fight against Cybercrime” project, the results and activities of which were presented today in Sarajevo.

The project, which is financed by the EU with one million euros, is being implemented by the Austrian Agency for European Integration and Economic Development in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia.

Implementation of the project began in May 2021, and consists of two components. The first refers to the strengthening of the operational capacities of police units for the fight against cybercrime, and the second to the development of guidelines for a more effective fight against cybercrime.

Work on draft guidelines for more efficient work of officials working in the fight against cybercrime, in accordance with the Convention on Cybercrime and the best European standards, was supported.

Austrian and Croatian experts will continue to work with representatives of the BiH Ministry of Security, the State Investigation and Protection Agency, the BiH Border Police, the Forensic Investigation and Expertise Agency, the Police Support Agency, the Republika Srpska MOI, the FBiH MOI, and the Cantonal MOI, and the Police of the Brcko District of BiH and exchange the latest knowledge and skills.
