At the end of August, Bosnia and Herzegvoina could receive a valuable financial package of assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of 300 million euros, intended for BiH’s health recovery through the purchase of vaccines, announced IMF Resident Representative in BiH Andrew Jewel.
Jewel stated that these funds are also intended to strengthen economic resilience, ie to face the crisis brought by the Kovid pandemic 19.
“In the context of the global pandemic, an environment is being created that will enable the allocation of a new 650 billion US dollars of general SDR allocation to support the reserves and liquidity of all IMF member countries.
“The allocation will help those countries get funds to support reserves or buy vaccines and support economic recovery,” Jewel told Vecernji List, a BiH publication. He pointed out that these are emergency measures to combat the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, this year is the time when BiH should take key steps towards overcoming the health crisis, primarily through vaccination of as many citizens as possible, followed by the country’s economic recovery.
