The Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and the Construction Institute today started their joint public procurement for the selection of the contractor for construction and craft works for the construction of an auto service hall and a storage facility to carry out the activities of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior in Stup, worth 3.9 million BAM (without VAT).
The Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and the Sarajevo Canton Construction Institute have already developed the main project and obtained urban planning and building permits for this project. The contractor selection process was first launched in January 2026, but no bids were submitted. New market research followed, and informative offers were collected, based on which a new procedure is being initiated.
Minister of Interior Admir Katica thanked the Construction Institute for its support on this and other infrastructure projects, hoping the procedure will be implemented successfully so construction can begin as soon as possible.
“Law enforcement deserves the best working conditions, and new hangars mean modernization of operational methods and conducting forensic vehicle examinations. Justice does not rely on assumptions, but on evidence. This is why we must create conditions where the police can work adequately and conduct their investigation,” Minister Katica said.
In Stup, new hangars for forensic examination of vehicles involved in or originating from criminal offenses will be built, including hangars for auto service, a tire service workshop, spare parts storage, and office premises. The project is significant in multiple aspects, primarily because the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton will solve the issue of using the existing hangars on Zmaja od Bosne Street, which are temporary. The hangars were erected more than thirty years ago and do not meet the required standards. They will be removed.
The Sarajevo Construction Institute secured land for new hangars for the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior. At the same time, removing the existing hangars will clear the way for the construction of the Ars Aevi Museum, which will contribute to the development of cultural activities and enrich the city’s offering.
By building new infrastructure, the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton strengthens its capacities, while simultaneously securing resources that remain in the permanent ownership of this security body, with fully resolved property rights over facilities and land.
