BiH declared as the Tax Oasis?

The Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), placed our country on the grey list together with other countries that are suspected to be the-so-called “tax oasis”.

Our country is mentioned three times in the document of the Council of Europe, and besides the grey list, we are also among the countries that are listed as future members of the Global Forum.

The list includes countries with problems in jurisdiction regarding the taxation system.

Regarding the potential members of the Global Forum, BiH is on the list with our neighbouring countries Serbia and Montenegro, but also with countries such as Turkey, Vietnam etc.

“To be exact, they are resenting us our tax transparency, and the EU wants to know if it can quickly obtain information regarding business operations of some companies, which are transferring their businesses to our country. On the other side, they are also interested in the possibility of the profit transfer, which became current topic due to the affair with the company “Google” in Ireland,” said Admir Cavalic, an economist.

He also added that there will be no consequences for BiH at the moment, especially since it was stated that our country wants to cooperate with the EU in the upcoming year.
