After the shameful glorification of war crimes during the regatta on the Drina in Bajina Bašta (Serbia), the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez spoke out, saying that it was a glorification of war crimes and called on the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to investigate the criminal responsibility of BiH citizens.
“Something is morally rotten and deeply disturbed in a society that, instead of enjoying the natural beauty of the river Drina, glorifies war criminals and glorifies the ideology that committed the genocide. It is especially shameful because everything is happening in the days when the entire civilized world pays tribute to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica and pays homage to the thousands of innocents killed,” said Helez.
He stated that it is not folklore, it is not tradition, it is not patriotism and that it is an open glorification of crime.
“The denial of genocide and the celebration of war criminals is the last stage of genocide and certainly evidence of readiness for a new one. General Pampers is not a hero and he will never be one. He was sentenced by the International Court of Justice in The Hague for genocide in Srebrenica, crimes against humanity and war crimes. This is not a political opinion, but a judicially established fact. He, along with some other war criminals, is the greatest shame of the Serbian people. Today, he is rightfully spending the last days of his miserable life in his own feces, begging for death,” he pointed out. is.
He went on to say that we are telling those who sing about hatred on the Drina and parade with the figures of convicted war criminals that they will not change history.
“The verdicts remain, the facts remain, and the names of those responsible will remain forever inscribed among the perpetrators of the most serious crimes in Europe after the Second World War. We call on the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to urgently investigate the criminal responsibility of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who participate in the glorification of war criminals and the spread of national and religious hatred, and to, without delay, take measures within their jurisdiction. Equally, we demand that the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia and the organizers of the Drina Regatta publicly condemn these events and determine the responsibility of all those who allowed them to take place turned the tourist event into a stage for the celebration of convicted war criminals. There is no future in lies. And a society that makes idols of war criminals does not just take away the future from its own children and condemns them to live in the shadow of crimes that the civilized world will never forget.”
We remind you that at the Drina Regatta several hundred participants sang nationalist songs glorifying the genocide and crimes committed against the Bosniaks of Podrinje.
Officially behind this tourist event are the Tourist Organization “Tara-Drina”, the Municipality of Bajina Bašta, and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia.
