The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez met today in Brussels with the Commissioner of the European Commission for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, it was announced from the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As stated, the interlocutors discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration and, in particular, the fulfillment of 14 prerequisites for starting negotiations on full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU. Minister Helez spoke about the efforts that are being made to reach a consensus in the current complex political moment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to make progress for the benefit of all who live in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I am optimistic. We came here to tell the truth about what is happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina. EU officials are ready to help us. They are aware of who is the main brakeman in our country,” Minister Helez said on the occasion.
On Wednesday, Minister Helez will speak with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice-President of the European Commission, Joseph Borrell. He will also lead the delegation of the BiH Ministry of Defense at the fifth meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union.
