A new survey by online security company Surfshark found that Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the 13 percent of countries on the continent with poor electronic infrastructure, although most European countries are above the global average.
A total of 52 of the 121 analyzed countries worldwide are classified as having poor electronic infrastructure, as they have a lower than average e-infrastructure index.
Countries with poor e-infrastructure also generally do not have high incomes. Their average GDP per capita ($4,300) is almost eight times lower than in countries with good e-infrastructure ($32,600).
Only five European countries have a lower than average level of e-infrastructure: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova and North Macedonia.
The spokeswoman of the company stated that the level of e-infrastructure of a country greatly affects the quality of life of people – from access to information to opportunities for employment and education.
“Monitoring the progress of countries in e-infrastructure can help to better understand its key drivers and accelerate the country’s development,” they pointed out in a press release.
