Yesterday, the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Zukan Helez attended the joint military exercise of members of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) and EUFOR, which was held in Bihac at the “Adil Besic” barracks.
In addition to the members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the AFBiH and the Multinational Battalion of EUFOR, members of the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team and helicopter forces of the AFBiH, as well as members of the Special Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton (USC), participated in the exercise.
The exercise was preceded by joint training, with the aim of training members of the AFBiH to participate in peace support operations.
Through the exercise, the ability to perform complex operations in urban areas and in a multinational environment was demonstrated, all with the aim of protecting the civilian population. Numerous abilities were demonstrated, such as the ability to perform air transport, provide first aid, clear objects, remove mines and unexploded ordnance, and more.
“What I saw today is another in a series of proofs of the readiness and training of our members to work side by side with their colleagues from NATO countries, that is, proof of their ability to work according to NATO standards, which I am very proud of,” said Minister Helez. “I use this opportunity to especially thank EUFOR for the many years of cooperation and support we have from their side, both in the training process and in all other segments of strengthening the defense system of BiH. I congratulate all the participants of the exercise on a successfully completed task and I leave this place with the conviction that the AFBiH have a trained staff, motivated soldiers, and leaders, and what is most important is that they are the guarantor of the security of our state of BiH,” Minister Helez said yesterday in his address.
During this visit to Bihac, Minister Zukan Helez also met with representatives of the highest authorities in the USC, and also visited the advanced department of the museum of the 2nd (Ranger) Infantry Regiment of the AFBiH, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
