BiH exports of Poultry see year-on-year Increase of 5.0 pct in 2017

Exports of poultry from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) amounted to 55.5 million KM (35.29 million U.S. dollars) in 2017, registering a year-on-year increase of 5.0 percent, Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH official report said Monday.

On the press conference, Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH official stated that exports of poultry recorded an increase of 2.6 million KM (1.65 million U.S. dollars), and that imports recorded an increase of 1 million KM (635.9 U.S. dollars) or 3.0 percent year-on-year.

The coverage of imports by exports has now jumped to 165 percent. Ten years ago, the deficit and coverage of imports by exports was 68 percent, official data said.

Poultry meat products amount for 72.0 percent of total exports, followed by poultry meat (19.0 percent), eggs (7.0 percent), and live poultry (2.0 percent).

According to data on imports, poultry meat amounts for 56.0 percent, followed by poultry meat products (20.0 percent), live poultry (13.0 percent) and eggs (11.0 percent).

By increase in exports to the markets of Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo, BiH continued the growth in the poultry sector. (1 U.S. dollar = 1.57 KM)
