BiH Exports Rose by Ten Percent

rastIn the first five months of this year, BiH exports amounted to 3,5 billion KM, which is 10,8 percent more than in the same period in 2012, while imports amounted to around six billion KM, which is 0,5 percent less than in the same period of last year, according to statistics from the BiH Agency for Statistics.

The export-import ratio amounted to 57,6 percent, and the foreign trade deficit reached a value of 2,5 billion KM.

The export growth continues to significantly contribute to electrical energy, which in the first five months of this year have exported in the value of 172,8 million KM or 268 percent more than in the same period last year, while the imports amounted to 30 million KM or 40,8 percent less than in the first five months of 2012.

The good results were reported in the production of furniture, which saw an increase of 11,5 percent. With these products, we have exported 236,4 million KM worth for five months, and imported 35,8 million KM, which is 4 percent less than in the same period last year.

The export growth was also recorded in machinery and transport equipment by 11,5 percent, as well as chemical products by 12,5 percent, while the imports of these products ranged close to last year’s levels.

The exports of iron and steel for 5 months recorded a slight increase by 2 percent, while the exports of non-ferrous metals is less by 1,4 percent. Food and live animals were exported for the first five months in the amount of 125 million KM or 15,4 percent more than in the same period of last year. Also, a growth in exports and tobacco has been recorded.
