BiH exports see 12 pct year-on-year increase in January-June

SARAJEVO, July 21 (Xinhua) — Exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) amounted to 5.834 billion convertible mark (KM), or 3.499 billion U.S. dollars, in the first six months of this year, registering a year-on-year increase of 12 percent, official data showed Saturday.
According to data from BiH Agency for Statistics, imports during the same period reached 9.336 billion KM, up 8.1 percent year-on-year. The coverage of import by export was 62.5 percent, the report said.
Export to signatory countries of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) amounted to 898 million KM, recording a 10.8 percent increase year-to-year, while import amounted to 1.118 billion KM, up 4.5 percent year-on-year.
The European Union is the most important trade partner for BiH.
Exports to the EU countries amounted to 4.280 billion KM from January to June this year, up 13.5 percent year-on-year, while imports from EU totaled 5.611 billion KM, up 7 percent year-on-year. The coverage of import by export was 76.3 percent. (1 U.S. dollar=1.67 KM)
