BiH Foreign Minister meets the Minister of Defense of Germany

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković met with the Minister of Defense of Germany Boris Pistorius, and on that occasion he thanked Germany for its strong support for the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

“We welcome Germany’s renewed participation in the EUFOR-ALTEA mission as an important sign of Germany’s strong commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. We have good cooperation in the field of defense,” it was stated on the page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X platform.

Germany is a proven and reliable partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strongly supports the reform of the defense system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they added.

Yesterday, Pistorius met with officials of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fena news agency writes.

Members of the BiH Presidency talked with the Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius, about the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.

The important role of the Federal Republic of Germany, as one of the key partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, was underlined, announced the Cabinet of BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović.

Bećirović thanked FR Germany for its commitment to the peace and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and for providing important support to the strengthening of the defense forces. He said that there is no alternative to strengthening the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthening the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Interest was expressed in further improvement of economic cooperation, and bearing in mind that Germany is among the most important economic partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina and leading donors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, interest in further German investments was also expressed.

They discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path.

Germany is among BiH’s key European partners and strongly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership in the EU, and has an interest in achieving permanent stability in the Western Balkans region by ensuring a European perspective for all countries in the region, it was said at the meeting.

The extension of the Althea mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed, it was announced from the Cabinet of the member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović.
