The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team departed Sarajevo airport for Vienna today, where they will play their final World Cup qualifier against Austria tomorrow.
The Bosnian football players are travelling to the Austrian capital full of optimism after their 3-1 victory over Romania in Zenica, which secured them second place in the group and a place in the play-offs. However, coach Sergej Barbarez’s team will try to celebrate in Vienna against the Austrian favorites, which would take over the lead and ensure a direct place in the World Cup.
Upon arrival in Vienna, the national team will hold an official training session tonight, and the Austria – BiH match is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. at the Ernst Happel Stadium.
The match will be refereed by Portuguese João Pinheiro.
This will be the seventh match between Austria and BiH. The Austrians have won twice, BiH once, and three matches have ended without a winner. In the last match between these two teams, Austria won 2:1 in Zenica in September.
With one round remaining in the qualifiers, Austria leads the group with 18 points, while Bosnia and Herzegovina has two points less.
