The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today during his participation in the 21st Doha Forum with Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflicts and the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and United Nations in the Office for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development, it was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the meeting, it was pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom have good and friendly relations, which are reflected in intensive political dialogue and substantial cooperation in numerous areas.
They discussed a number of topics of common interest, and exchanged opinions on current geopolitical and economic issues.
Minister Konaković emphasized that the United Kingdom’s support for reform and integration processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina is extremely important, and that our country appreciates the strong commitment of the United Kingdom when it comes to continuing to provide political, economic and security assistance and support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Lord Ahmad reiterated the unquestionable support of the United Kingdom to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to the reform process on the European path. He thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its support to the United Kingdom’s “Call to Action” initiative, which was launched with the aim of ensuring the rights and well-being of children born after sexual violence in the conflict.
The meeting also discussed contractual relations and defense cooperation. Minister Konaković praised the efforts and leadership of Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon and the United Kingdom in the Global Initiative for the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflicts (PSVI), which BiH fully supports.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of BiH to the State of Qatar, Semir Halilović.
