BH Crafts Association, which created a worldwide recognized brand of handmade crafts, was nominated this year as the only such organization in the region for the prestigious Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award (SEA).

Owner Lejla Radončić told radosarajevo.ba that the SEA Directorate informer her organization that BH Crafts, among the 260 associations from 30 countries, was chosen as one of the most successful projects.

The Association entered into the top five projects in the category of Urban and Regional Development and was therefore nominated for an SEA award. The winner will be announced in Hofburg place in Vienna on 10 April.

BH Crafts was founded as a non-profit humanitarian organization from the Norweigan People’s Aid and Lejla Radončić in 1995. Through their projects, they provide chances to female victims from the conflict in order to re-integrate in society. There have been more than 1000 participants in the project so far.

The project is currently working with over 200 users throughout BiH, and despite the global economic project, it has successfully managed to place its products on the US, European and Japanese markets. The handicrafts that were made by members of the project were sold last year with a worth of around several hundred thousand marks.
