BiH Independence Day celebrated for the First Time in the Swedish Parliament

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Independence Day was celebrated for the first time in the Swedish Parliament, announced Swedish MP Denis Begić.

“As the president of the Friends of Western Balkans group, I am proud that our community has been recognized and that we are sending a clear message – Bosnia and Herzegovina has friends in Sweden! Today, three Social Democrats with Bosnian roots are sitting in the Swedish Parliament: Azra Muranović, Dženan Čišija and me. This is no coincidence – the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community is one of the best integrated in Sweden. We are proof that when you work, when you fight and when you don’t give up – anything is possible!”, he said.

He pointed out that they are found in all parts of society: from scientists to nurses, from directors to industrial workers.

“We are building Sweden, but we are not forgetting Bosnia and Herzegovina either! According to research, young people who came to Sweden from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former Yugoslavia during the war today have the same employment rate as their peers born here. This shows how valuable and dedicated we are! But as much as we want to contribute to Swedish society, we also want to be part of the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We want to see Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the European family, as a country of prosperity and stability,” said Begić.

He notes that today, as always, there are those who want divisions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Sweden.

“We are telling them: you will not succeed! Only with joint efforts, solidarity and a clear vision can we build a better future. Bosnia and Herzegovina will survive! We will continue the fight for it,” said Begić.
