Civil protection from Bosnia and Herzegovina is ready to send aid to the Republic of Slovenia to repair damage from the catastrophic floods that hit this country – announced the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Slovenia submitted a request for international assistance after a large storm and heavy rainfall in which numerous buildings were flooded and traffic roads were damaged.
On the initiative of BiH Minister of Security, Nenad Nešić, a meeting was held today in the Ministry’s premises with representatives of the Republican Administration of Civil Protection of the Republika Srpska and the Federal Administration of Civil Protection of the Federation of BiH, where possible methods and scope of assistance were discussed.
In its request, Slovenia asked for help with the heavy mechanization necessary to clear the terrain in flooded areas.
The Republican Administration of Civil Protection of the RS and the Federal Administration of Civil Protection of the FBiH have expressed their readiness to send available machinery with crews to clear the terrain, and Minister Nešić will send a proposal to the BiH Council of Ministers for making a decision on sending international aid.
Also, pontoon bridges were requested, and bearing in mind that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have these at their disposal, Minister Nešić forwarded this request to the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further processing – it is stated in the statement.
