b_161114086Bosnia and Herzegovina should soon have its liaison officer in EUROPOL in Hague, confirmed the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić and Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Dragan Lukač.

After a meeting in Banja Luka, they stated that all procedures regarding the implementation of the operational agreement on cooperation with EUROPOL have been completed.

“We have to establish our office in the headquarters of EUROPOL in Hague and a point for cooperation with BiH, so we were looking for the most rational solution,” said Mektić, emphasizing that a lot is expected from cooperation with the European police service, which fulfills one of the conditions from the Reform Agenda and a liability for BiH integration into the EU.

“We came up with rational solutions for the financing of that cooperation,” Mektić added.

Minister of Internal Affairs of RS Dragan Lukač also said that this agreement would raise the cooperation with EUROPOL to a much higher level.

It was concluded at the meeting that cooperation of police agencies is necessary, in the interest of the safety of RS, BiH, and the citizens.
