The Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, today in Kakanj condemned the attack on the pastor, Žarko Vujica, which happened on Saturday evening in the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Kakanj, Fena reports.
“I am glad that Pastor Vujica was not injured and that he endured everything in good mental and physical condition. I appeal to the police in Kakanj to identify the perpetrator as soon as possible, find him and punish him with the appropriate punishment,” said Hurtić.
Representative of the Islamic Community in Sarajevo Nedžad Grabus was also visiting Kakanj.
Pastor Vujica explained how the attack on him happened, and that he is happy that everything went without major consequences. He thanked the neighbors who were the first to notice that something was wrong and called the police.
Minister Hurtić reminded that there have been no similar excesses in the area of Kakanj for a long time, which is a proof of coexistence among the peoples who live here. Together with Grabus, he made himself available to this religious community for everything it needed.
There is a common assessment that the attack on the pastor has all the characteristics of robbery, and that it happened for selfish reasons, not for religious reasons. Nevertheless, this should be constantly discussed and the tensions, which are many, especially in Podrinje, should be reduced, said Minister Hurtić.
It is necessary to take more account of religious officials and the facilities where they stay. It is important that they carry out their mission in peace, is the message of Hurtić and Grabus, announced the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
