The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, assessed that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary are good and friendly without open issues, and that there is room for improving cooperation.
At the meeting with Szijjarto in Budapest, Košarac expressed his gratitude to Hungary for understanding political relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and respecting the Dayton Agreement, without imposing solutions and interfering with foreign factors in internal issues.
The meeting discussed improving economic cooperation and increasing foreign trade, as well as Hungarian investments in the energy, agriculture and tourism sectors.
“We put a special focus on cooperation in the energy sector, where I informed Minister Sijart that the Republika Srpska has, in the legislative sense, fulfilled all the conditions of the Energy Community, and that it has strategic projects and is ready for foreign investments. I expect that the deadlock will be unblocked in the near future in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the legislative sense,” said Košarac.
Košarac put a special focus on supporting Hungarian agriculture in the Republika Srpska through the procurement project of Hungarian agricultural machinery, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations announced.
He noted that in the first phase of the project, aid was allocated to 768 agriculturists, and that the realization of the second phase of the project is expected from June 2023.
At the meeting, it was also agreed that a session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation would be held as soon as possible.
