At the session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, deputies adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Budget of BiH institutions and international obligations for 2014.
The revision of the budget proposed by the Council of Ministers and adopted by the BiH Presidency and the BiH PA House of Representatives provides for redirection of more than seven million BAM from the state budget for the areas affected by the May floods.
Savings have been made by all budget users decreasing the individual budgets of institutions by one percent, honoring the conclusion of the Council of Ministers and the conclusions of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly on the budgetary savings.
Because the real damages and costs that incurred due to the floods, the House acknowledged the fact that the three institutions, namely the Ministry of Defense, the Intelligence and Security Agency and the Indirect Taxation Authority realized somewhat lesser savings.
Speaker of the House from the Caucus of the Croat People Dragan Čović (HDZ BiH) said today that there were many reasons not to support this bill, but given the fact that it was supported by the House of Representatives he believes that the House of Peoples should do the same.
“If we do not adopt the bill today, not even these seven million BAM would reach the population affected by the floods,” said Čović.
