The traditional event on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the existence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) will be marked by a series of activities, and the central ceremony, which will be attended by BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić, is planned for June 12.

The schedule of activities has not changed much compared to previous years. Thus, on Friday, a voluntary blood donation campaign was organized for all members of the MoI of the USC in the Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić” in Bihać.

“Every year we mark the Police Day on June 12 in this way, even during the past years during the pandemic when there was no formal academy. It is about our traditional activity that we are continuing this year as well. As for the central part of the ceremony, it is scheduled for Monday, June 12, starting at 9 a.m., which will begin with the laying of flowers at the Central Humca Memorial, the Catholic Cemetery and the grave of dr. Irfan Ljubijankić. Then at 10:15 a.m. there will be a demonstration exercise of the Unit for Specialist Support of the MoI of the USC, and at 11 a.m. a formal academy will be held, where the member of the BiH Presidency, Željko Komšić, will make a special speech, which is special honor to us. What we are also happy about is the participation of the Music School “Nusret Keskin – Braco” from Bihać, whose students will perform at the ceremonial academy,” says Bahrudin Dželalagić, spokesman for the MoI of the USC.

The police unit for specialist support that will perform the demonstration exercise is an organizational unit that is part of the uniformed police sector and consists of two departments.

As they state, its members are satisfied with their monthly incomes, as well as material and technical equipment. For the job of a member of the Specialist Support Unit of the MoI of the USC, they point out, you must have innate empathy, love and you must love the job, since it requires a lot of sacrifice.

In 2021, the Government of the Una-Sana Canton acquired Belgian-made SCAR rifles, which are used by special units around the world. Each member of the Unit for Specialist Support is assigned this rifle, and in addition, they also have the most modern protective equipment for going out into the field and when conducting high-risk arrest operations.

It should be emphasized that the work of the Specialist Support Unit is not only about hostage crises and arrest operations. The scope of work and activities is much wider and includes diving actions aimed at saving human lives or finding the bodies of persons who have disappeared under water, rescues from chasms and pits, from mountains and buildings, and many other activities such as preventive action aimed at suppressing and preventing drug and arms trade.
