The chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, addressed the participants of the Crimean Platform in Kyiv today via video link, expressing his strong support for the people of Ukraine, its leadership and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He emphasized that the competent authorities of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina condemned the Russian annexation of Crimea “as an act of violation of international law”.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina regularly joins EU statements, initiatives and decisions condemning aggression in international organizations,” Bećirović said, recalling that Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with 140 other UN member states, expressed support for the UN General Assembly Resolution a, adopted on the occasion of marking the anniversary of the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

“The restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including Crimea, is crucial for both Ukraine and the international community,” said Bećirović.

He pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the war from 1992 to 1995, deeply understands the suffering of Ukraine. For this reason, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina also expressed their solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine.

“Standing with Ukraine means standing on the right side of history and supporting the fundamental principles on which the civilized world was built,” said Bećirović.

He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

“Ukraine’s just struggle for the re-establishment of territorial integrity and sovereignty is in the common interest of all democratic forces in Europe and the world,” concluded Bećirović.

The Crimean Platform is an action of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, started in 2021, to diplomatically reverse the Russian annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014. The goals to be achieved are returning the Crimean issue to the global agenda, protecting human rights in Crimea, promoting the de-occupation of the peninsula and strengthening European and global security.
