BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović spoke with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina Luigi Soreca.

They discussed the importance of implementing reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the EU, with the aim of ensuring stability and progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the benefit of all citizens, Klix.ba writes.

The joint commitment to the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina was highlighted.

During the conversation, Bećirović said that full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU and NATO are Bosnia and Herzegovina’s highest priority foreign policy goals, which represent the best framework for lasting security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. He stressed that EU enlargement is in the mutual interest of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, as well as the EU.

He stressed that there should be zero tolerance towards those who undermine the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Soreca expressed his commitment to strengthening the partnership between the EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Emphasizing that the door to EU membership is open, he emphasized that it is necessary to use the decision of the European Council to open accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as a strong incentive for reform processes in our country.

Ambassador Soreca said that our country’s EU membership will contribute to making Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions more functional.

In this context, the interlocutors agreed that the way forward must include harmonizing domestic legislation with European standards and implementing key reforms with the aim of strengthening democratic institutions and strengthening the rule of law. It was noted that stronger EU engagement will also help launch processes that will ensure a better life for all citizens and stop the exodus of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović pointed to the progress that Bosnia and Herzegovina has made on its path to the EU, which has also been recognized by EU institutions.

At the end of the meeting, Bećirović wished Ambassador Soreca a successful continuation of his mission, expressing optimism that the coming months will bring progress on the path to full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU.
