Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke with US Congressmen Mike Turner and Donald Norcross as part of their visit to BiH, and on that occasion the excellent friendly relations between BiH and the United States of America (USA) were confirmed.

Bećirović thanked the US for its continued and strong support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of BiH. He pointed out that many of BiH’s key successes in recent decades would not have been possible without the consistent and strong support of the US.

He also stressed the importance of intensifying activities on the preparation and implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection project, which is of strategic importance for BiH, but also for the wider region. He said that he was particularly encouraged by the progress achieved in the recent period and that the construction of the Southern Interconnection will contribute to the overall economic development of our country.

Bećirović particularly pointed out the importance of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) and the Constitutional Court of BiH, which was particularly confirmed during this year. He emphasized that the OHR and the Constitutional Court of BiH are key factors in protecting the constitutional order and implementing the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that any attempt to challenge them represents a direct blow to the stability, peace and legal order of the state.

Turner and Norcross emphasized the strong support of the United States for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They reiterated their commitment to strengthening overall cooperation, especially energy security and economic ties between the two countries.

Bećirović and the US congressmen assessed that it is necessary to continue intensive cooperation and deepen the strategic partnership with the United States in the coming period, which is in the interest of stability, security and the Euro-Atlantic future of BiH, the Office of BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović announced.
