During his official visit to the Holy See, Denis Bećirović, a member of the BiH Presidency, presented Pope Francis with a copy of the book Codex diplomaticus Regni Bosnae: charters and letters of the old Bosnian state and the Solemn Charter of King Tvrtko I Kotromanić.
Codex diplomaticus Regni Bosnae, as the final volume of the trilogy on the Bosnian Middle Ages, is dedicated to the preparation, translation and publication of various types of sources (charters, letters, bulls, notary records, instructions, etc.) that originated in the medieval Bosnian state or are of foreign provenance, but they talk about the situation in Bosnia. These sources are valuable surviving voices from the past and represent a support on which objective historical science about the Bosnian Middle Ages can be based.
Codex diplomaticus Regni Bosnae contains professionally produced photos, transcriptions and translations of documents, as well as contextualization of sources, because the Codex, in addition to scientists, is also intended for a wider readership.
The sources in this book show that the Bosnian state had all the attributes characteristic of that era and of other political creations – states.
The translation into Bosnian and transcription of more than 350 of the most representative and interesting medieval Bosnian charters and letters with historical context represents an important publishing venture of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
