The focus of this year’s meeting of the leaders of the countries participating in the Brdo-Brioni process in Skopje is European integration, climate change and the emigration of young people, announced the Cabinet of the President of North Macedonia.
A plenary session is planned, which will be followed by a press conference of the summit host and statements by officials, after which the talks will continue at a working lunch and bilateral meetings.
The Brdo-Brioni process was held for the first time in 2013 at the joint initiative of the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia on Brdo pri Kranju.
The main goal of that process is the full integration of the countries of the region into the European Union, the stabilization of the situation in the Western Balkans through the strengthening of regional cooperation and the resolution of open issues.
The leaders of the Brdo-Brioni process countries meet at least once a year. Last year, the summit was held on Brdo pri Kranju, when the leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans, instead of a declaration, adopted conclusions in the form of a six-point document. The main message was to reaffirm support for the acceleration of the European path of the Western Balkans.
