The incumbent Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Denis Zvizdic has resigned of the candidacy for member of tripartite BiH Presidency on Friday afternoon in BiH’s capital Sarajevo.

Zvizdic has decided to resign of the candidacy after the Presidency of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), of which Zvizdic is member for 27 years, has decided that the candidate for Presidency will be elected by individual and secret ballots.

Some 400 participants of SDA Convention will have the right to vote by secret procedure on May 26, at the anniversary of party’s founding, and will decide between Safet Softic, Sefik Dzaferovic who are incumbent vice-presidents of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and Sebija Izetbegovic, the Director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.  Earlier in May this year, the Central Election Commission (CIK) announced that country’s general elections will take place on Oct.7 2018.  Under one of the most complex electoral systems in the world, BiH voters will elect a tripartite members of presidency which represent the three major ethnic groups of Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats, and choose the members of state and entity-level assemblies.
