BiH – Qatar: Talks on starting the Fund of Friendship

12188291_1740279736208703_596849053_nPrime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalic and Federal Minister of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts Amir Zukic yesterday met with a delegation of Qatar Development Fund, led by executive director Musfar Hamad Al-Shahwani.

On behalf of the Government of Republika Srpska, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Regional Cooperation Zlatan Kokic and Assistant of Minister for Economic Cooperation Slobodanka Dubravac attended the meeting as well.

During the meeting, they discussed starting of the Fund of friendship between Qatar and BiH.

The main goal of establishing this fund on a revolving basis is employment of young people in BiH. This way, BiH will receive significant help in the fight against one of the highest youth unemployment rate in Europe.

According to Al-Shahwani, the Fund is interested for support to the construction of infrastructure, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and microfinance initial money for small businesses.

Qatar previously started the Fund of friendship in Tunisia and Japan. In Tunisia, in several years, the Fund’s resources created 5,000 working places, while in Japan, the Fund helped the reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed by a devastating earthquake.

Prime Minister Novalic said that the activities of the Qatari fund is compatible with our needs and that we, regarding this, need not only financial but technical assistance as well, as announced from the Office of Public Relations of the Government of FBiH.
