Bosnia and Herzegovina today received a green light to activate the Membership Action Plan (MAP) at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.
The MAP program envisages advisory assistance and practical support tailored to the individual needs of countries that want to join NATO.
“I expect ministers to agree that we will be ready to accept the first annual national program of Bosnia, then it’s up to Bosnia to decide whether they use this opportunity,” Jens Stoltenberg said.
NATO offered the membership plan to Bosnia in 2010 but declined to “activate” it until all conditions were met.
