At the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year, 1.702 regular primary schools (main and independent with regional schools) and 46 schools for children with developmental disabilities were operating in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), it was stated on the website of the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
”In the 2021/2022 school year, 264.802 students were enrolled in BiH, which is 3.257 students less than the previous school year, or 1.2 percent. The share of female students in relation to the total number of students is 48.5 percent,” the Agency for Statistics of BiH stated.
It was announced that in the 2021/2022 school year, 28.013 students were enrolled in the first grades, which is 1.9 percent less than the previous school year.
Of the total number of students, there were 54.3 percent of students in the lower grades (from the first to the fifth grade, i.e. ISCED 1), while there were 45.7 percent of the students in the higher grades (from the sixth to the ninth grade, ISCED 2).
In the 2021/2022 school year, 24.601 teachers were involved in the teaching process, of which 18.157 were women, that is 73.8 percent.
